Don't I deserve this?
This week I've been having a hard time being grateful for the things I have. I touched on this last week but I think I have realized more and more how much I feel it. It's difficult for me to know that all I need is Christ and what he's done for me on the cross. I keep thinking that if he knows that this world is so difficult why doesn't he do more to help. God already has done more than you'd know and is continuing to do things we may not even see. I have felt very angry towards everyone and tried pushing them away because I'm mad at the circumstances that even I don't understand how to help me. I try thinking of the good instead but, like I said, I seem to always find something to contradict the good. When I feel like God should be doing more I try to remember that he's done the most anyone could ever do by dying on the cross and defeating death. I try to do more for him out of gratitude by doing this devotion and trying to show God's love, but it's in our human nature to feel ungrateful and think that we deserve more. If we got everything we "deserved," we would have to pay for our sins by death instead of being forgiven through believing that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose three days later. We don't deserve anything, we have chosen a sinful world over a beautiful pain-free paradise with God. God has given us the choice to have that back in eternal life with Him in heaven and yet we still feel like He isn't fair. If you're looking for some big answer to help you to not feel ungrateful, I'm sorry I haven't found it yet. It's something that comes with a deeper relationship with Christ and I'm still working on it. Life is hard and it will make us become a selfish ungrateful people. But if we were perfect God wouldn't have had to die on the cross. Just remember that in spite of how sinful and ungrateful we are God still loves us and He still paid the price for us. I'm not saying it's okay to feel ungrateful it still is something we should try to not do but know that you're not alone in feeling or wishing you had more. The trials in life that we wish would go away might challenge us to keep trusting in God and we have that choice. If we do trust in God, we'll have a reward in heaven for pushing through with God instead of trying to push through without Him and ending up being pushed back. God appreciates every little step forward that we take with Him and it puts a smile on His face. Keep on working with God and working to grow in your relationship with Him.
