For this devotion I am going to play off of For King & country's devotion on how you are priceless. In today's culture it seems like if you stand up for your faith, you won't be popular. This goes for girls and guys. It seems like if you don't match what everyone else is doing, then you aren't special but, the truth is, if you stand up for your faith and for who you truly are, you'll stand out the most because no one is doing that anymore. I know that everyone says it only matters what's on the inside and we can sometimes find lies to disprove that, but the fact is, it's true. In the long run, we grow old and our youthful beauty fades but when we have a good personality and a strong faith, those things can only grow. As we go through life, we are always looking for love, but what we don't think about is that God sent His son to die on a cross in pain and defeat death so that we could live in Heaven with Him for eternity because He didn't want to live without us and loved us so much. When God comes to us with outstretched arms saying come to me and I will help you we often times say no because we are afraid that it will interfere with our life. What we don't remember is that God isn't there to hurt us, He's there to help us through the good and the bad. He gets us through life's toughest times and circumstances and He shows His love through our worst and teaches us how to share that love. Without God what are we striving for in life. If there wasn't a god all the success you may strive for and maybe succeed in will all end when we die. With God, we don't have to strive to succeed because we can never be perfect enough for His Heaven but through our daily lives, we can glorify Him and use it to honor God in everything we do. If you play basketball you can use that as a tool to witness saying that we need God as our substitute in life. If you're in business, you could talk about how in business you don't get anything for free but with God, He's giving us an eternal life no strings attached. No matter how much we go against God and how much we sin everyday God still says that we're priceless. He says that we're worth dying for. Do you think that God would send His son to die on a cross because you looked pretty or you fit the standard of this world. The outside doesn't matter. The love you give and share will make an impact and will show you and everyone else that you are priceless. It doesn't matter if you are the most popular because those things will fade but what you've done for God will last an eternity in Heaven through the rewards we get in Heaven and the joy we give through sharing God's love. Sometimes we won't see why something is significant until we come face-to-face with God. If you could see into someone's mind and see how much a smile or giving them your seat can impact their day, you would never stop doing it. Be Priceless in your personality and in your Love. God is there and He will help you through.
Roman's 12:2
Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Psalm 139:13-14
For you formed my inward Parts; you needed me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your Works; my soul knows it very well.
Galatians 5:24-25
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the spirit, let us keep in step with the spirit.
Philippians 2:3-4
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, and humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
Today is Easter. The day when we celebrate Jesus conquering death by rising again. If you're like me, you can go numb to the power in that statement. To help, I think of it this way: The Bible says that God is our father. Our Father in Heaven sent His Son, Jesus, to die. Jesus was beaten, mocked, spit on, ridiculed, and then given a crown of long sharp thorns that were beaten into his head. Prior to that, He was under such extreme stress since He knew that all of that was coming that hematidrosis set in. That is when blood vessels rupture in the sweat glands causing Jesus to sweat blood. He went through all of that emotional and physical pain because He loved us to the point of death. If you have heard anyone talk about how they would die for someone because of there love for them, Jesus already did that even though we don't always show Him love in return; Even though the ones He died to save included those who killed Him. That death included whips digging into His back, bei...
The question that we all ask ourselves at some point in our lives is, “what is love?” Is it, doing things for others, is it seeming to enjoy being with someone more than just as friends. Is it a sacrifice? Is it 50-50 I do something for you, you do something for me. Is it blind? There are a lot of views and opinions on what love could be and what it isn’t. I think that it’s an important question to be answered especially if we are called to love others. I figure the best way to find the answer to that is to ask love itself. 1 John 4:8 says that “God is love.” Now we have added to the question of “what is love”, “who is God?” if we learn more about God we learn more about how to love. The Bible says that God is our Father in Heaven, so is a father's love for their child the perfect love? For some that would make love very difficult and no father-child relationship is the same or perfect so we can’t fully trust our world's imperfect example. I think the best answe...
Hey everybody! First off I would like to apologize for the very late post. I have been in the process of moving and to be honest have been trying to figure out things for myself. My depression has escalated in a way that I am still trying to figure out how to handle. Throughout all of it I am trying to find where my personality went after my anxiety stole it. One thing about depression, at least for me, is that everytime I start to understand it, it changes. It's really draining to be hit with the same thing over and over and yet everytime not know how to cope with it. That is why I haven't posted. I am trying to learn to cope with the depression that is all rooted within my own mind. I get confused on why I cant seem to catch a break in this and so I didnt know how to write about what I learned when I dont even know what to learn yet. It's hard to see the bright side or the knowledge that is to be learned when you are hit head on with all of the trials that come with o...
