In basketball, to start learning how to be a great player, you have to first learn the basic fundamentals. As you learn the fundamentals, you then add onto it to grow your skill set. Sometimes, if you get off, you have to go back to those fundamentals. I had to take a year off of basketball due to a ganglion cyst in my wrist making it painful to play. I got down knowing that I had missed a big part of skillset growth. I started practicing again recently since my cyst has not hurt as bad lately. I knew that after the long break, I had to start from the beginning. I used to think it got a little boring because I knew how to do it and could do it pretty well so I wanted to skip the fundamentals. However, I was left with less skill in shooting and dribbling. Once I realized how much the fundamentals helped me to grow as a player, I enjoyed them so much more, knowing that I was getting better and getting stronger.
