Warped Reflection

Image
Have you ever looked into a mirror that has a curve or bend in it? You see these kinds of things that make you looked bigger or smaller in areas. As a people of looks, we often think that if I am not skinny or have great hair or pretty skin then I am not going to have friends or be popular. This happens to girls, boys, kids, and adults. We all judge our looks so much that we become sick with envy or sadness. It's as if we are looking into a warped reflection of our lives and looks. Sometimes we believe that our lives aren't pretty. Maybe they are just pretty on the outside but torn on the inside. We always try to hide the bad thing in our life like many try to hide a zit. Why? We are scared to let people know that sometimes lives and situations are wrecked. When we look at ourselves this way, we are letting our old flesh win instead of looking at our new spiritual side in Christ.  we shouldn't be ashamed of our lives. Yes we may feel guilty if something was our fault but...

Every Lazaras Has A God

Image
This weeks devotion is a bit of a copy from Elevation church's sunday message. I went to Elevation last sunday with my family and there message was called the Lazaras factor. As I was taking notes, I realised that a lot of what the story of Lazarus and what the preacher were talking about deal with the idea of opening up and letting go. This can deal with mental illness issues that many of us may have kept inside and let fester. The story of Lazaras can be used to show the power of God if you let Him into your life's trials and triumphs. The story of Lazaras shows Mary and Martha calling on Jesus to come and help Lazarus because he is sick. The story stresses how much Jesus loved all of them and He said that He loved them SO He waited. If God loved them, why didnt He say but....instead of so.... It was so that the glory of God could be shown and that through the sickness, God's loving power can shine brighter than the darkness. In Jewish tradition it was said that the sp...

Identity Through A Name

Image
My name is Faith Michele Burden. I love my name. It reminds me of what I should live and strive for. My name means belief and trust in God. In Hebrew it means support and it comes from the latin root confidence. My mom gave me this name because I was her fifth child and she knew she needed belief, confidence, support, and trust in God to get her through raising so many children who all nagged for attention.  If my name was a song it would be Ceasefire by For King and Country. I chose this song because it talks about how we cannot help others through hate. I want to show God’s love to all in hopes that they will believe in Jesus Christ as their savior. The song brings out a thought of peace instead of strife. We should stop pointing fingers and learn to love.If my name was a song, I would want the message given in that song to be heard every time someone asks my name. If my name was a car it would be an old classic jeep or truck. I would want it to be a classic because it...
